BEN POWELL, P. ENG.

PRESIDENT

Ben leads the Safe Roads Engineering team with more than 10 years of experience in roadside safety design and installation; including sign support structure assembly, mobile lift and noise barrier design and construction. Ben is a licensed Professional Engineer and a graduate from the University of Waterloo in Civil Structural Engineering. Ben is an authority on solving design problems, providing proposals for alternative configurations and developing innovative construction techniques in the Noise Barrier and roadsides safety industries.

BRAD RYAN, P. ENG.

SENIOR ENGINEER

Brad is a licensed Professional Engineer and graduate from the University of Windsor where he received his degree in Civil Engineering.  Prior to his employment with Safe Roads Engineering Brad worked for an engineering consultant in the telecommunications industry where he gained experience as a Structural Engineer and Project Manager.  His experience with inspection, analysis and design of steel and concrete structures in the telecommunications industry opened the door to a new opportunity in the transportation and road building industry with Safe Roads Engineering. 

JEREMY A. GREEN, P. ENG.

VICE PRESIDENT

Jeremy is a licensed Professional Engineer and is a graduate of Carleton University in Civil Engineering with a Concentration in Management. Jeremy’s past experience includes working as a Construction Inspector and Plans Examiner in a government Engineering department, a Project Engineer in Training for a large scale Heavy Civil General Contractor on a high profile projects on 400 series Highways, a Contract Administrator for a respected Consulting Engineering firm and has most recently has been the Contracts & Claims Manager for Powell Contracting Ltd., the leading installer of roadside safety products in Ontario.

MOHAMMAD VAKILI, P. ENG., M. SC

SENIOR STRUCTURAL/BRIDGE ENGINEER

Mohammad is a licensed Professional Engineer with the Professional Engineers of Ontario, and a Masters graduate from the University of Tehran in Structural Engineering, and Project Management from the University of Toronto. Mohammad has over 20 years of experience in design, inspection, evaluation, and construction of transportation infrastructure such as bridges, retaining walls, sound walls, sign support structures, railway structures, shoring and parking structures. Prior to joining Safe Roads Engineering Mohammad worked for IBI and AECOM Canada as a Senior Structural/Bridge Engineer in high profile projects.

SASHA GOLLISH, P. ENG., M. ENG

VULNERABLE USER &
ROAD SAFETY EXPERT

Sasha is a licensed Professional Engineer with the Professional Engineers of Ontario and a Masters Graduate from the University of Toronto Civil Engineering Department. Sasha brings a wealth of experience to the Safe Roads Engineering office with a background in planning, policy, and engineering. Prior to joining Safe Roads Engineering Sasha worked for the Province of Ontario, most notably on the recent Ontario Cycling Strategy. Her work experience at the Ministry also included Highway Planning and Design on several 400-series highways in Central Ontario, including the 407 East Extension from Brock Street to Highway 115/35. She is also an active participant in several working groups for active transportation, road safety and vulnerable road users, including the Ontario Cycling Association.

KENT HOUGHAM, B.SC.

OPERATIONS MANAGER

With over five years of project management experience, Kent is responsible for the coordination of SRE’s field staff and resources. Having earned an Honours Bachelor of Science from the University of Guelph specializing in GIS (Geographic Information Systems), and a certificate in OSIM Bridge and Structural Inspections, Kent is an expert in data acquisition, and data processing. He has overseen numerous asset management projects for SRE. These projects have ranged from biennial structural bridge/culvert inspections and annual retro-reflectivity inspections of regulatory road signs for municipalities and regions, to cataloguing and inspecting all 400 series highway energy attenuation systems within an M.T.O. district, for an AMC (Area Maintenance Contract) holder.
